At 19 he accepted a place to study music theatre at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where he soon joined a cappella group ‘Five’ that regularly appeared at Perth Casino and major sporting events and went on to support Kool and the Gang for the Perth leg of their Australian tour.

Over the next 19 years he has since gone on to appear in numerous musicals and plays including Showboat, directed by Hal Prince; Cabaret, directed by Richard Wherrett; The Producers, directed by Susan Stroman; and Legends, directed by Chris Renshaw - all for GFO; The Sunshine Club, directed by Wesley Enoch for Sydney Theatre Company; Eurobeat for Glynn Nicholas Productions; No Way to Treat a Lady, directed by Stephen Colyer for Darlinghurst Theatre Company; Mary Poppins, directed by James Powell for Disney and Cameron Mackintosh; Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, directed by Roger Hodgman for James Anthony Productions; Sondheim on Sondheim, directed by Jay James-Moody for Squabbalogic; and Beyond Desire, directed by Neil Rutherford, Blood Brothers, directed by Andrew Pole and High Society, directed by Helen Dallimore for the Hayes Theatre Company. Phillip is thrilled to be working again with the team that presented Dusty – The Original Pop Diva, having joined the Australian tour of that production in 2006.
