Since graduating from the University of Western Sydney and the Actors’ College of Theatre and Television, Luke has forged hugely successful career in both musical and legitimate theatre, as well as being highly sought-after as a director. After touring Australia in the 25th anniversary production of the Cameron Mackintosh behemoth Les Misérables, Luke most recently appeared in Machu Picchu, a co-production between State Theatre Company of South Australia and the Sydney Theatre Company (STC). Luke has played a number of leading roles in children’s theatre: Foxy in Pinocchio for Windmill Theatre/STC, Andy in The 13-Storey Treehouse for Christine Dunstan Productions and Scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz for Riverside Theatres. His extensive musical theatre credits include: The Threepenny Opera for Malthouse/STC, Annie and Dr Zhivago for the Gordon Frost Organisation, Avenue Q for Arts Asia Pacific, Assassins for Neil Gooding Productions, Dirty Dancing for Jacobsen Entertainment, Titanic: The Musical for Seabiscuit Productions, Sunday in the Park with George for Q Theatre, Karaoke: The Musical for Guy Noble, Guys and Dolls for Ambassador Theatre Group/ Donmar Warehouse.
Luke’s outstanding performance as Nicky/Trekkie Monster in Avenue Q was recognized with two awards: the Helpmann Award for Best Male Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical and a Green Room Award Best Male Actor in a Featured Role (Music Theatre). Luke made his directing debut with Beaconsfield: The Musical. He has since gone on to direct Back to the 80's, Giggle & Hoot & Friends for ABC TV, Thank You For Being a Friend for Neil Gooding Productions, Annie for Packemin Productions, Beyond Misérables for Beyond Blue with the company from Les Misérables, and Songs For a New World for Blue Saint Productions.
