Ian works at the highest level in Australian film, television and theatre.
His television credits include the series lead role of Mike Flynn in Sea Patrol for Channel 9, the Series Lead role of Oscar Stone in Stingers, the Series Lead role of James in Childrens Hospital for ABC TV, as well as guest roles in Murder Call for Channel 9 and Dance Academy for ABC TV.
Ian’s film credits include the Lead roles of Anthony in Dingles Down Under, Tug Medic in Trapped In Space, as well The Godfather III directed by Francis Ford Coppola.
Ian has starred in many successful musicals. Most recently for the Hayes Theatre he created the role of Anton in the world premiere of Truth, Beauty and A Picture of You, and received The Glugs Colleen Clifford Memorial Award For the Best Actor in Music Theatre for 2014. Other roles include Skye Masterson in Guys and Dolls (Shows Management), Sid in The Pajama Game (The Production Company), Curly in Oklahoma! (The Production Company), Cliff in Cabaret (IMG Entertainment), Hatter in Charters Towers (QLD Musical Festival), Peter Lalor in Eureka, as well as roles in Songs for a New World (Adelaide Cabaret Festival), They’re Playing Our Song (The Production Company), Music Hall (Royal Shakespeare Theatre) and Angry Housewives (La Boite, Seymour).
His theatre work also includes The School of Arts (QTC), Malthouse Theatre’s production of Sleeping Beauty; A Tale of Two Cities; Ely, Grey and Pistol in Henry V; Capulet and Paris in Romeo & Juliet; and the production of Walkabout (Chamber Made Opera).
Ian also starred in Daylight Saving (Darlinghurst Theatre Company) and Griffin Theatre’s Caress/ache. Ian sang in Canberra Symphony Orchestra’s Hollywood Hits, QLD Pops Orchestra’s On Broadway, Broadway Hits for Queensland Pops Orchestra (QPAC), Goodnight Hamer Hall for The Arts Centre, Victoria, and Sporting Scores! with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Cabaret appearances include performances with Rachael Beck in You And I for QPAC’s 12 Acts of Cabaret and More Than Words for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.
He recently toured Queensland with his one man show, The Leading Man, and continues to perform with the highly successful corporate events group The Leading Men.
Ian is a two time Green Room Award winner for the Best Male Artist in a Leading Role for They’re Playing Our Song and Oklahoma!. He also received Green Room Award nominations for best male actor in a musical for Cabaret and Eureka and a Helpmann Award nomination for Oklahoma!. In 2014 he was nominated for a Sydney Theatre Critics Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Truth, Beauty And A Picture Of You.
